China has offered quite a lot of loans to Venezuela, secured in oil. Venezuelan oil production is, for whatever reason you want to blame, far below the Chavez days. It's almost certain that China won't defend Venezuela by force out of pure ideology, they aren't the Soviets in that regard for damn sure, and they don't seem inclined to believe they'll recoup their investments under Maduro. Short of Venezuela selling their sovereignty and putting Chinese bases everywhere to defend Chinese-managed oil production I'm not sure what they can offer for protection. As for Russian guarantees...
