WTF weirding modules?!?! 2000 got the plot, but not the characters or setting. Why is Paul a spoiled little crybaby? Why is Mortal Kombat happening in a desert temple? I prefer the 1984 because although it absolutely demolished the plot, between the acting, set designs, costume, and directing, it still salvaged an entertaining movie. 2000 miniseries just had me screaming at the characters in between scoffing at the atrocious costumes and direction. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 10 months ago* I'm going to defend the costumes of the 2000 miniseries. Take a look at Macaroni fashion. It's an attempt by the nobility to outdo each other in ridiculousness. The joke of "Yankee Doodle" is that by putting a feather in his cap, that's enough for the yokel to think he's doing Macaroni fashion. Marie Antoinette apparently once showed up to a party with a boat on her head. This was a time when the nobility of Europe would reach its peak opulence. Just before the French Revolution started chopping off their heads. That's what the Dune 2000 costumes are about. A nobility that had gotten too damn comfy in its fancy chair. permalink fedilink source parent [–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 child) I actually really enjoyed how they expanded Irulan's character. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] db2@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago Wait until you find out what Herbert's son did. permalink fedilink source parent [–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago 1984 permalink fedilink source parent
