I helped start a subreddit that was like “thatweirdbathroomdream” or something, I don’t remember it was easily a decade ago explicitly for people to talk about their weird bathroom dreams! Apparently it’s a typically American dream (so is losing your teeth but cutting your hair/hair falling out is more universal) and typically includes unusual open spaces, lack of privacy, unusual lighting, they typically also are clean like this or filthy, or at least the toilet you interact with could be filthy. I find collective cultural dreams to be SO fascinating

Until this post I didn't know this was a thing. I thought I just had a weird bathroom kink or something, but I've had lots of dreams with bathrooms very similar to this. Had no idea this was a shared experience.

I also often end up peeing on something in the weird bathroom and the suddenly realizing that the thing I'm peeing on is not supposed to be peed upon and feel awful about it, and sometimes someone comes in and sees me peeing on the part I wasnt supposed to be peeing on.

This reminds me of a weird bathroom dream I had once. I was at the gym and went to the restroom where there were about 90 toilets, all in glass stalls that were maybe waist-high so when you sit you can see everyone’s face.

Anyway I ended up walking almost clear to the back because most were messy beyond comprehension and I swear it’s for every time I’ve scrubbed a toilet for work.

My dream is almost this exact room, but ALSO notable by it being connected to an entire labyrinth of doors and hallways and other rooms.

My dream tends to go: I am outside or in a lobby area. I need to go. I go into the bathroom door, which leads to more doors, and more hallways and more doors, and eventually I get to the room pictured and I'm like, noooo, so I keep going and go though the next door and keep going on my journey, coming across room after room of varying AWFUL configurations and usability. If a toilet is clean, it's just out in the open, if it's a nice private one, it's clogged. I continue on, sometimes encountering a sauna room with pools and bathtubs. I never stop. I have to go. More hallways, more weird rooms. If I ever do end up finding a place to go it only ever lasts 5 seconds and then someone else comes in and sits right across from me and since no doors it's awkward. And something always goes wrong too. No TP, doesn't flush, I miss entirely, etc. And when I finally get to wash my hands there is never soap and usually no water or something doesn't work. And I also sometimes the get caught in another loop of trying to find a working sink, or soap. it's HELL.

Yup same. And many like it. Good to know that this experience is shared lol. All the stalls will probably either be empty, locked, or have something fucked up in it.
