Yes I did "borrow" part of the idea from @USSBurritoTruck@startrek.website , but that's just part of the Ferengi spirit!

FYI, the @ doesn't make a link unless you select it from the dropdown box, or actually type out some link code eg [link text](@user@instance). This link will also take you to their instance, away from the instance you're logged into.

To automatically generate an instance agnostic link you need to use /u/user@instance, so /u/USSBurritoTruck@startrek.website. However, this won't create a mention to their inbox, you can only do a mention with the link code.

Disclaimer: all this behaviour I'm describing is the core lemmy website behaviour, apps may have their own quarks.

I don't believe it is as I haven't seen any documentation say that

Just go to a community and look at the URL, then do the same with a user

That is only true for the url

Anytime I've gotten a mention it has always been @x4740N@lemmy.world

    I'd mention you as @Xusontha@is.buckodr.ink

And again the lemmy documentation doesn't mention u/

Edit: never mind I just realised I misread your initial comment and went on from that initial misreading

    Sorry about that

USS Taco Bell is just a Crunchwrap Supreme for the saucer section and two Burritos for the nacelles

    Okay that's unfair...

    Who's buying me a burrito?

I can't, I just spent a fortune building a starship out of burritos. Do you know how expensive it is to make a warp core out of beans?

The guac is inside the burritos, it's like the plasma relays

So that's why the Jeffries tubes have been smelling extra tangy lately.

At least you aren't allergic to guacamole; that one dude just exploded when he went in...

I'll miss Ensign... What's his name. Starfleet's finest.

I never understood people that name their kids that way. Though I understand that the one that got eaten by a lava monster a few weeks ago changed his name to Guy.

I made a meme yesterday using Tribbles but each was replaced with strogonoff, all resized and angled to match the individual Tribble it replaced.

I realized I spelled it "strogonof" and rage quit. It was several dozen layers.
