Hi. I'm trying to install libtorrent but I'm getting an error that I don't know how to resolve. Am I being dumb or is something up?

ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement libtorrent (from versions: none) ERROR: No matching distribution found for libtorrent

Could you provide more information? What are the commands you are entering? Which system are you on? Is there a page with instructions you followed?

I'm on windows using pycharm and doing it from their module manager, or using pip from the console. The virtual environment is python 3.12.

  • Oh boy... windows. I can't help you there, but hopefully somebody else can.

No matching distribution found for libtorrent

This tells me that windows is not supported (or distributed by that python package).

I'm afraid you might have to follow the guide and build it yourself. Or opt to use WSL. That might get rid of your headaches, but I'm a linux user, so no experience with WSL on my side.

Is libtorrent actually installed as a package? I see you're on windows, but surely there's an so you need to download or such? Haven't used windows for many years though.
