[–] Thassodar@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (9 children) What common recipes use cardamom? I haven't made anything that uses it. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 18 child comments replies: [–] AFaithfulNihilist@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago (1 child) I put it on a lot of things sweet and savory alike. It goes with the rosemary, pepper, salt and coriander when I roast potatoes. It also goes into snickerdoodles or a half dozen different kinds of cake. It also makes a really good additive to soap if you make your own soap. It's such an underappreciated spice, at least in the US where nobody seems to know what's going on despite enjoying the food. The only time people don't question what the flavor is, is when I make Indian food. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago Is it the one that smells like fruit loops? permalink fedilink source parent [–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago The Basmati rice recipe I was making called for it. It is also used in certain styles of biryani and various curries. Various indian sweets can also contain it. The Swedes apparently use it in cakes and pastries. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Daxtron2@startrek.website 3 points 2 years ago Many Indian recipes permalink fedilink source parent [–] afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago Indian food.
