Once released, it will have been 10 years since the last film (which was ok for the first two thirds, then a trash fire), and 20 years since the Fox series which was a very different brand of superhero movie. It was fitting for that era, but wildly different from what superhero movies look like nowadays. Plus, it isn't like Lord of the Rings where the definitive version has already been made.
