I saw this post and wanted to ask the opposite. What are some items that really aren't worth paying the expensive version for? Preferably more extreme or unexpected examples.

I mean, you did do the opposite of what an AskLemmy post asked. And the post itself is a follow-up or response to a previous post that asked the question you wanted to answer...
