Make the gameplay loop good and the UI easy to use with touch and I'd be playing way more than I would sitting at my PC. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 years ago (1 child) Touch is garbage tier input for precision and speed. Making a Touch friendly game would require a massively simplified game, more so than consoles. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] money_loo@1337lemmy.com 9 points 2 years ago (1 child) Not everything has to be competition level gameplay… permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago Even without competition, touch based isn't capable of cross play, it's farther apart than mouse and keyboard vs controller for FPS. permalink fedilink source parent [–] ChaoticEntropy@feddit.uk 2 points 2 years ago* Well, someone already made Kingdom Rush. But we can all pretend that the British TV show "Time Commanders" would have been a great idea for table RTS controls. permalink fedilink source parent [–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 years ago I think they have the right idea, by focusing on social aspects and making campaigns/co-op first class features, not just 1v1 ranked matches. permalink fedilink source parent [–] taaz@biglemmowski.win 6 points 2 years ago* (1 child) https://beyondallreason.info/ permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Raab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (2 children) Can I get a short review of this? Total Annihilation remake - though today it's definitely more then just a remake. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Raab@lemmy.world 1 point 2 years ago Thank you! Graphics of most are outdated but the gameplay and possibilities to customize are unmatched in the genre. Spring engine allows for both, micromanagement focused gameplay and huge battles on large maps. There are several Total Annihilation based games for spring engine but also lots of others, like WWII and Star Wars based ones for example. Beyond all reason seems to be the game on spring engine with the most pretty graphics right now, so it´s a good starting point. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Raab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago Thanks for the info! permalink fedilink source parent [–] AlternatePersonMan@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 child) My favorite genre. I feel like we've seen a resurgence of every other genre. Bring on the RTS games. I would do terrible things for Warcraft 4. I will definitely check this out. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago Ed Del Castillo keeps trying.
