K thats not like a silver bullet, is it? I feel like thats sort of orthogonal even tho in letter you may be able to access all the shit. We need like a "Beeper" app for streaming services or something, I dunno

    The VPN is for a torrent client. No need to worry about streaming services when you're sailing the high seas instead.

    Which one's that and but can you literally stream without having to dwn to completion. I just wanna watch shit like a certain prime service but I hate having to readjust whatever to watch each subsequent episode/season. Just wanna netflix and chill dammit aha

    Stremio is kinda beeper for streaming. In stock config you can search a show ir movie and itl show where it's available and has links to the right app if you have them installed.

    Or you can install some plugins to sail the seas.

    With a VPN you can torrent shows/movies as soon as they're out on streaming. How is it not a silver bullet?

    Even with a VPN, finding out where stuff is streamed is difficult.

    VPN is a security measure. It doesn't tell help me navigate the millions of fake oppenhammer uploads

    It's not hard at all to find legit torrents. I don't even know where you'd find millions of fake ones.

    Google. Google strikes down all the legitimate torrents from their search so you're left with all the virus cesspits. I usually stumble into a few before finding a legitimate one

    You're doing it wrong. There's plenty of resources on how to torrent safely. Start there to find reputable trackers. Don't just download random shit off google.

    The piracy community is one of the biggest ones on lemmy. They have a wiki pinned as the first post when you go there. It's pretty hard to miss that community if you're on here for any amount of time. Reddit also had the same thing. That's not particularly far beyond places "normies" frequent.

    And yet it's the first time that it crossed my mind. Trust me, tech illiterates such as me struggle more with these things that you might believe.

    Also thank you, you don't know how much of a help you are giving me pointers. I know it might seem obvious on your end, but it really isn't if you aren't as internet savvy.

    Bruh - a key reason why you are tech illiterate is simply because you're telling yourself you are. There are only two skills needed to become tech literate: (1) the ability to read, which you seem to have; and (2) the ability to accept that you don't know something, while remaining persistent with asking questions. Though it may be true of the present moment, consistently telling yourself you are tech illiterate and not Internet savvy is reinforcing those beliefs and hindering the ability described in (2).
