[–] Malix@sopuli.xyz 91 points 2 years ago (1 child) well, I do understand that in tournaments the games shouldn't be modded. Otherwise: let players do what ever they please. permalink fedilink source hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] vlad76@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 2 years ago (3 children) Does this game not have any anticheat? I would have expected the game to stop you from loading modded content into multiplayer. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] deathmetal27@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children) The mod was running on a caster's machine. Perhaps some spectator mode. The host sends their textures to other players? That sounds so inefficient. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] vlad76@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 years ago I'm being told that the mod was on the casters computer. Which makes sense permalink fedilink source parent [–] Malix@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 years ago (1 child) absolutely no idea. Would have assumed the online mode would have had anticheat. Though, was the tournament held online? TBH, skimmed through the article really fast permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] vlad76@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 2 years ago (2 children) I assume even if it was over LAN it would include multiple copies of the game talking to each other. That means that the game allows you to upload skins from your game to other people. Which rases security concerns for me. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Malix@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 child) or, as simpler explanation: the footage was captured from a device which was running the modded game. edit: or, from the stream of the person using modded game. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] vlad76@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 2 years ago That makes a lot more sense. permalink fedilink source parent [–] pory@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago Since you've already been corrected on the assumption that players used/saw the nude mod, I'll just point out: Fighting game tournaments almost never use "lan". Two players sit in front of one console and one monitor, and plug in their own controllers. Super high budget tournaments like EVO might use dual-console setups for finals day, but when you're chewing through an open bracket it's just silly to double the required amount of hardware per station. permalink fedilink source parent
