The footwear, the only example from Hispania discovered with decorative elements, is in an excellent state of preservation and has been refrigerated until it can be fully restored

How do they know he was cleaning? Maybe someone threw it in there as a prank or he was sitting at the edge and lost it?

Worse, Spanish mob hid a dude in the sewers. Maybe the concrete disintegrated over time.
