Just because veterans have serious problems caused by their service does not make them victims of their wars. You chose to give your body to the State in service of their wars. I sympathize with your current struggles, I know they're real, but you also gotta take responsibility for your part in the misery the
army has brought upon the world. You could have chosen something else. It might have been painful, unpleasant, possibly lethal, but you could have chosen something else and not put your body on the line for the
project.
And frankly, a lot of veterans have zero regrets or even reflection on their """service""" and how it affected the world. Precisely, the line of shit that veterans sell is that they had no choice or did not have enough information to make an informed choice. Absolute horse shit. You made a bad choice. It's indefensible.
I personally am willing to forgive veterans if they show themselves to be reformed, but you gotta understand that some people are never gonna forgive you for your """service""" and they're not even remotely wrong to take that position considering what your former comrades did to them, their families, their people, and you gotta learn to live with that. And I'm not out here to make that harder for you, but I can't make it easy or painless.
You think I want to be one of a few people with universal healthcare in the US?
At one point you certainly did, and when veterans do apologism for their service, I start to doubt that they currently don't.
Do you know how much it sucks to watch people you love die, because they don’t have healthcare and you do, because you gave your body to a country that didn’t fucking care?
