The situation would be the same if he also could block you for other users and instances without telling them.

Personally blocking a user on your account is fine Personally blocking a user from your admin is fine

Both those things use Lemmy tools and the modlog. Banning people with a secret shadowban malware list and distributing this malware to other instances is unethical.

I'm fairly certain this user is Admiral Patrick's alt. He is in every thread not only defending but straight up lying.

I highly urge everyone to go take a look at the list. There's lgbt communities and instances, small news orgs and even a word ban so your comment doesn't show if it has "Epstein class" in it for example.

The app only showed you half the ban list, it hid the LGBTQ bans, users and comment stuff from what I understand.

    I don't consider an optional ui used by optional instances with an optional and clearly labeled feature that enables an optional GUI toggle that allows users to control a filter that does not actually ban anyone to be "malware"

    Clear as mud. You knew adding the entire Blahaj instance on a “toxicity” filter would cause an uproar, that’s why you went out of your way to hide it.

    that link looks very clear and posted in the pubic repo to me but yeah dude like i said if you want to imagine that someone else blocking you is somehow an attack then you certainly have that right but the only person you're hurting is yourself

    Look man, if you didn’t understand this was going to cause a scene when people figured it out, frankly you don’t need to be developing software for other people. This whole episode shows a massive disconnect between what you think is fine and what everyone else thinks is fine.

    like i said if you want to choose to view that as evidence of secret conspiracy or whatever that's totally fine with me, I don't but also I'm not the one pretending im under attack because someone else on the internet doesn't like me

    people are allowed to block us and find us annoying! im sorry but it's true. We can choose to let it bother us and go around wallowing in self pity, but most people dont want to be around someone like that so again the fact that you ended up blocked should not be a surprise.

    i havent even looked at the blocklist tbh but my position is that insisting you have the right to force your speech upon someone else when they have made it extremely clear they wish to block you is just reprehensible behavior in my book. "No means no"! But it especially means no when someone is telling you to leave them alone like they did.

    you are not being silenced. someone blocking you on the internet is not an attack on you, you are not a victim, and it does not give you the right to attack someone else
