I think also part of it is a requirement of the condition. A non-curious autist would probably never get a diagnosis, and just assume they are bad at life and struggle severely. You have to be curious to notice your own differences, strengths and weaknesses, and find ways to work with them, rather than fighting them. We basically have no choice but to be curious, we can't take the straightforward easy path in life, and navigating the jungle requires problem solving skills and introspection.
