[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 12 points 1 month ago (2 children) I have broken zero phones and lost exactly zero phones in drains Can somebody confirm this is a concern? Is it an alcoholism thing? permalink fedilink source hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Zorque@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 child) I think it's a going out and doing things to have fun thing. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] bajabound@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 child) I never considered throwing my phone in a sewer could be entertaining. But I never lost a thing I actually used semi-often. But I do drop phones all the time (I also dropped my Redmi's bare motherboard ~2 times while repairing it (somehow it survived without problems)). I cracked one screen glass on a Samsung a12 last year (a really shitty phone), it's still fully functional (but not mine anymore). I also cracked an LCD of a Huawei P20 lite (which I would probably still be using if it was in a working condition). Now I use a Redmi 4X. It was old when I got it and survives literally everything (except any mild motherboard temperature changes (weirdly)). I'm not replacing it until it's irreparable since I can't take care of stuff. Edit: Also had a Mi 11 Lite 5G with severe motherboard problems, which isn't important in this context. Fuck the new Xiaomis. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] diaphragmwp@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 month ago (1 child) somehow survived There's no reason it wouldn't lmao, a falling phone board has both tiny weight and shitty aerodynamics. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] JamesBoeing737MAX@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 month ago (1 child) But also no protection whatsoever.
