We all know about Brian Thompson meeting one of the Mario Bros, but you dont hear about what happened to Wesley Leplatner. We heard about the TP warehouse ("all you had to do is pay us enough to live) but you haven't heard about any of the others. The pattern seems to be: Thing happens to rich person/big company. Thing is mentioned on the news. The public reacts the "wrong" way.
