So we'd be Sun-3. Or if we rename the sun to Earth, we'd be Earth-3, called "Earth" for short. In English, our planet name literally means dirt. ๐ permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 10 child comments replies: [โ] Benign@fedia.io 16 points 2 months ago Dirt is great. So, clearly, this comic was translated from Japanese. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [โ] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 10 points 2 months ago (1 child) That seems like a poor choice on their part permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [โ] randint@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 4 points 2 months ago Just writing this for people who'd want to know: hoshi (ๆ) is the daily, common word used to refer to stars and planets. This is the most common word that someone would use to refer to a star. However, for science, more precise terms do exist: wakusei (ๆๆ) for "planets" and kousei (ๆๆ) for "stars". permalink fedilink source parent [โ] Illogicalbit@lemmy.world 1 point 2 months ago* Exactly, they might be from the โbootyโ system now, but thereโs no need to rename the planet. That would just be confusing. permalink fedilink source parent [โ] devfuuu@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago Ahah, go tell that to all the chinese cultivation manga folks. permalink fedilink source parent
