When you have an unregulated marketplace like AirBnB the legitimate businesses will loose. Renting may be causing other problems but it isn't like they bring nothing to the table. Think of the average hotel guest you have experienced? Yeah that one EVERY week. Luckily my municipalityv/(Norway) will strike down hard on zoning violations if you run a commercial operation in a residential area. The initial idea was brilliant. Occasionally renting out a room in you house/flat. Or renting out a few weeks when you are yourself on vacation.
