Yes, the Matrix space is hosted on a particular server, but it all connects so a user from one server is able to participate in a space hosted on another server.

Just shoot me your Matrix username if you'd like an invite!

    Actually Matrix rooms aren't hosted on specific servers at all! That's why room and user ids are :example.com instead of @example.com.

    Matrix federation works differently from Fediverse federation :3
