I wish we could reproduce via eggs. Give us a short internal gestation period, then let either parent look after the egg until hatching.

Long, debilitating pregnancies? Not anymore. Painful childbirth? If the egg shell is soft when being laid and smaller than a newborn, it's far less likely to be painful or complicated. Abortion debates? Either the abortion would take place before the egg is formed (when it's clearly non-viable), or whoever is fighting for "babies' rights" could take on the burden of hatching the egg and raising the baby directly.
