Arbitrarily forcing a choice to clarify your feelings on the matter can actually be very useful, it's just a bit rude to use other people for it. When I have a choice like this I'll sometimes throw some dice (d6, 1-3 for white, 4-6 for blue), if I'm happy or don't mind what they landed on then it's the correct choice, if I'm not I'll probably realize which option I was secretly hoping for and go with that.

This is a real life hack. I'll flip a coin to make a decision all the time, not because I'm beholden to the coin's result, but because while the coin is spinning I'm suddenly aware of which side I hope it lands on.

This is what I do too :) it is seriously a crazy life hack and it’s helped me also figure out how close my preferences actually are - like if I’m one number away from a different outcome and I breathe relief, there you go, but if I didn’t care that’s also fine too
