If Trump does anything to Iran, Pakistan is going to make a big fuss about doubling-back on their nomination. Does the nomination mean anything? No. Is he going to get the award? No. It's entirely a diplomatic maneuver for a very specific goal of keeping the US out of Iran. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] ComfortablyDumb@lemmy.ca -2 points 1 year ago (1 child) Its just buttering him up for the next terrorism attack on India that Pakistan is planning to conduct. Iran is a Shia majority country and no ally of Pakistan which is a sunni majority country. Minority sects like Hindus, Shia, Ahmadiyas and ethnic minorities like Hazaras are treated the absolute worst in Pakistan. I would be surprised if they ever ally with Iran. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Windex007@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children) Iran and Pakistan are absolutely allies. They do joint military exercises. They have a joint weapons production program. Iran's diplomatic channels to the USA literally operate out of Pakistan's embassy in Washington. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Welt@lazysoci.al 1 point 1 year ago Always check the username permalink fedilink source parent [–] ComfortablyDumb@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 year ago (1 child) They exchanged missile fires last year.
