[–] NightOwl@lemmy.one 20 points 3 years ago (1 child) Don't go pros have replaceable batteries too and get used in like the ocean? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Im_old@lemmy.world 16 points 3 years ago* (last edited 3 years ago) (3 children) Yes, but they have a very sturdy case. The gopro itself (without the case) is not waterproof. Edit: looks like I haven't kept up with the times (username checks out) and now they ARE waterproof even without the case. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] OrgunDonor@kbin.social 11 points 3 years ago This is wrong btw. Since the Hero 5, Go Pros have been waterproof without the case. The current GoPro is waterproof to 10 meters without a case or 60 meters with the case. Compared to the current iphone which is only water resistant, so can be submerged for 30 minutes, upto 6 meters. permalink fedilink source parent [–] metaStatic@kbin.social 4 points 3 years ago (2 children) I mean if you remove the waterproof case you have a naked circuit board, if they could make that waterproof we wouldn't be talking about this. or are you thinking about ancient gopros that needed an extra sealed case? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Im_old@lemmy.world 2 points 3 years ago Yeah, I've updated my reply to reflect that. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Sephtis-6@kbin.social 0 points 3 years ago (1 child) Most modern gopros still need the extra case for deeper depths permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] 520@kbin.social 3 points 3 years ago (1 child) As do almost all phones permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Sephtis-6@kbin.social 1 point 3 years ago (1 child) Yeah I know, just wanted to make sure nobody takes their unprotected or old gopro to 100ft of depth. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] metaStatic@kbin.social 1 point 3 years ago anyone going down 100ft knows if their shit is depth rated permalink fedilink source parent [–] Sephtis-6@kbin.social 2 points 3 years ago They are if i recall correctly(at least the newer ones) waterproof till about 30ft without the extra case and with it till 150ft or so. But the extra case is very thick and sturdy permalink fedilink source parent
