As someone that has spent hundreds of hours studying history, the parallels between DJT and Hitler are pretty apparent.

Persecution of an outgroup (Jews and Mexicans)

Failed political coup (Beer hall putsch and Jan 6th)

Both used populism and economic crises to push their agenda

Demonization of mainstream media and consolidation of their own media networks (Radio stations and Truth Social / Twitter)

    Raging narcissism and ego

The main difference is that Germany was in a much worse economic situation than America is now.

Okay, but who is "calling everyone (they) disagree with nazis"? Look at the comment. The initial post is simply "Fuck Nazis." It's not calling anyone anything.

That's why it works as bait. It's not calling out any individuals in particular, so why would someone get offended by it? Simplest reason would be that they felt personally called out, because deep down some part of them identifies with that word.

I'm not talking about that scenario in particular, it's pretty obvious there that the guy felt called out. However the other guy said an incorrect statement and I just thought it was dumb, because not all cases are like that

It's moving the goalposts. Maybe they aren't a nazi, but a sympathizer to fascist ideals. If you're at a table with 12 other nazi's and you claim you're not, well, that makes it a wee difficult in seeing otherwise.

Creator of Godwin’s Law: You can totally call these guys Nazis

I've been on the internet long enough that calling someone a "Nazi" went from being the highest insult to a historically accurate descriptor of a self identified group. Maybe shutting down Stormfront was a mistake because all the users went to twitter and facebook where their views became normalized.

Historically, do you know what they called Germans who voted for Hitler because of the economy? People that didn't hold any hate for trans people, Jews, and other minorities?

Nazis. They called them fucking Nazis.

Hey in case you havent noticed, theyve kinda taken over the public sector in America. And theyre having larger movements across the ocean from us. We arent obsessed with them, they are just becoming more and more prominent and the rest of us are getting REALLY fucking concerned.

So it is your position that Nazis have taken over the public sector in America? Now that Nazis have taken over in America, are they going to reopen the concentration camps for a second attempt to wipe out all the jews?

    Here you go. https://lemmy.world/post/27631215

They're also demonizing and deporting immigrants without due process, attacking LGBT+ groups, stripping government programs, trying for aggressive short-term financial gains, and many other things that happened during the downfall of the Wiemar Republic.

This is the problem with the whole modern day "Nazi" movement. Who are the Nazis now? Anyone that drives a Tesla, anyone that disagrees with your opinion, and anyone that votes differently than you. It is a direct insult to real victims of real Nazis to label everyone as a Nazi. It also makes you less electable as normal people think you are mentally ill or do not possess the ability to correctly interpret reality. This is why you lost the last election.

So saying I'm tired of people's obsession with Nazis makes me a Nazi? I don't think you know what a Nazi is or how that works.

You seem to be personally invested in this. Why?

America needs two viable political parties to function. Now that each party has been conquered by their fringe elements you can see Americas dysfuction grow. This whole "everyone that disagrees with us is a Nazi" thing is a direct example of that. I read an article about a liberal scratching a swastika into a tesla of a woman that was Jewish. Her family was killed by real Nazis and now the liberal is facing hate crime charges. How is that beneficial to anyone? I say something because i believe that there are still rational adults that exist, or maybe I'm just wrong and all empires fall.

Help get rid of them then. When you get lice, your head constantly is itchy and complaining until you get them off. Same principal.
