OS: Debian VPS: 4 CPU, 8 GB RAM
PieFed v1.7.8

Observed higher than normal CPU usage, eventually rising to 100% and the site would no longer load for a number of hours. I panicked and tried rolling back changes to v1.7.7 but the high CPU load persisted. I gave up this AM and restored to v1.7.8.

So far CPU usage dropped to the point I could load up PieFed again to write this message. I'm hoping the load tapers off now and I'll just carry on like this.

when i change the text size in the settings everything except the post title changes size. How can i make the post title text larger?

When l post an image, it automatically creates a crosspost button. But due to some reason, it's not getting created in feddit and retrofed. Where's the problem with these websites ??

when i go to my profile there's "Vote quota used" and then a bar graph that's roughly a third filled.
i am guessing you have a certain amount of upvotes within a certain timeframe but neither one is mentioned in that section!?

Not sure if I just missed how this is now a thing but it looks like a malfunction, definitely not optimal. I've refreshed the page but, for c/microblogs , the community link to let me know what I'm looking at, is not displaying. I don't know that this is a help issue necessarily. Just wanted to mention it.

If I'm the only person this bugs, guess I'll just block the community, but that seems less than optimal. What if these folks describing their minute by minute minutiae somehow becomes interesting? It could happen (Narrator: It could never happen).

Couldn't find this asked here before, so I'm starting a thread.

From the filters page, I'm attempting to block various posts with keywords in their names following the directive to "Use a comma between each word." So far it doesn't seem to be working whether adding spaces after the comma or not.

I'm testing by refreshing my subscribed feed as well as jumping in to communities where such posts are made. They still show up.

I'd rather not block the user for various reasons; just don't want to see certain posts.

Sorry if it is not the proper place to post this, I've been unable to upload images for multiple months now, all clients, plus the piefed.social site (can upload images to post but not to the body text). Most bing up similar error messages when attempting to upload:

Did a quick search for this question in this community and didn't find it already, so: is there a native way (yes, I know of and use uBlock Origin, and just added these blurbs to my uBlock) to turn off the New communities and Active communities blurbs in the right rail?

I use Summit for piefed.social, and I noticed some communities are showing "no posts". I thought it was the app's issue, since when I open piefed.social on mobile browser and desktop browser, the erroneous communities show up just fine. The weird thing is, posts from those instances show up just fine on feeds and when I open them.

So I tried another app, Blorp. and it is showing the same error. Not showing any posts when I visit the comm, but still showing in feeds and when I open posts directly.

the communities I are lemmy.ml based. specifically I tried !android@lemmy.ml and !sbcgaming@lemmy.ml. I didn't try a lot of other communities or instances, but so far it seems consistent with .ml.

considering the infamy, I thought it is defederated, but either I don't know how to use the instance search at https://piefed.social/instances or what, but I can't find anything that indicated that instance is defederated.

I only went through past posts on piefed_help and found this post and this thread from a month or so ago describing the same problem as mine.

I used to see one - annoying - archived comment listed at the bottom of each page in my profile. Now there's pages and pages of them.

Is there a way to disable this?

Hey piefed people. I'm an admin and I'd like to receive an automatic report notification when certain phrases (namely, slurs) federate to our website. Is there a setting to do that? I'm looking at the moderation tab of the admin panel and it's just a list of reports. I don't actually get notified about most reports, which is a problem too. I'd like it to work like the em-dash AI reports that come in.

Ordinarily, when l post an image from this instance, a crosspost button emerges. But it's not happening now.

I had created an alternate account @loveespresso@cafe.coffee-break.cc and l really love the features of this instance. However, the admin of the instance drew my attention to his limited server and is requesting me to shift it to some larger instance rather than him closing it due to the number of posts and the resulting traffic it's generating.

I attempted to retrieve the original post. Which seemed to bring it over, except there were no comments attached to the post.

I attempted to retrieve the comments using the direct comment link, but PieFed would return a "post not found" error banner when entering that into the "retrieve remote post" field. I had read somewhere that this field could be used for comments as well . (Note this was all attempted before the post was eventually "locked").

Even an hour later there were a few more comments added, but on PieFed it is showing 4 comments, while viewing on Lemmy.world shows 25 comments.

Edit: I don't have any languages selected in my language settings, so I should be able to see all posts/comments regardless of the language.

Edit 2: Looks like 2 of the comments have now federated over (I don't think it's normal to take up to 2 hours for federation?). Still missing a third.... But now the original post looks to have been deleted.

Edit 3: updated with a new asklemmy post that isn't showing up on PieFed now.

Edit 4: updated numbers for newer post, that's 1 hour old now.

So. Reddit has "karma" and "CQS" scores. Is there some similar metric on Lemme? Not that I ever really cared about those on reddit, I'm just curious.

Today l had shared a post of mine on xmpp and immediately l was given the feedback that it's protected by an authwall.

Coming from Lemmy I remember there was a relatively simple way to view moderation actions, incl. possible comments a mod might have left.

Is it possible to view such things - and all things moderation - on piefed, too?

And, going beyond piefed_help, what is the canonical way of reaching out to mods resp. reacting to an action taken against me?

Can instance bans be queried in a similar way?

Yesterday, piefed ca banned me for some reason. I had made some valuable posts from that account. Basically these are crossposts of a single post. One of these posts had attracted 90 comments. But now all of a sudden, it's showing only 35 comments.

What's going wrong with piefed ?

As in title. Create post -> link -> paste URL in URL -> nothing happens

I checked after someone else asked, so it's not only me
