Is there truly no good browser to use? I mean, everyone obviously hate chrome for obvious reasons, firefox is getting a lotta hate for somany stuff- whenever someone mention brave , people hate it too, and ladybird too(ladybird is not really usable yet, I guess- but It also happens to be in a lotta controversy, i wanted to know if any of ya'll even consider using it, when it's stable or why won't you use it), I just wanted to know, why all of these browsers are considered "bad", or if it is even bad, I don't know- and what are the good options.

(I don't know much about these anyway, I mostly use browsers based on firefox personally, I just want ublock origin that's all lol )

This follows many browser makers ending updates 4 older operating systems, leaving legacy devices unable to use web services without an OS upgrade.

This kinda reminds me of the Java website block by browsers a few years ago, just in reverse. (Revenge? ;)

Old Android versions are also increasingly blocked from accessing the Google appstore.

I've heard a lot about Zen browser, and I'm considering switching to it. However I can't find info about adblocking with it, does it work similar to Firefox?

Whenever you see the in page popup "Login to Some Website with Google" that is an iframe back to Google servers. The less Google knows about me, the happier I am.

Is there a reliable mechanism similar to UBlock where I can just block them?

Web search's have led to "guides" by Google on how to request they stop making it obvious they are tracking you.

Firefox can keep visited links purple and does not allow any website to know whether a link is purple or has been visited.

If “Partition the Visited Link Database, including ‘self-links’” is enabled, Chrome cannot keep visited links purple globally.

If “Partition the Visited Link Database, including ‘self-links’” is disabled, Chrome keeps visited links purple globally, but websites can sniff CSS and determine which links you have visited.

From this perspective firefox seems like a better choice.

Brave Origin Nightly exists for people who want the browser to get out of the way. I’ve been using it for a week to see if it actually delivers on that.

It is fast and stable, but there is a specific part of the model that just doesn’t make sense to me.

My thoughts on the good and the bad are here.

When it up came up to my Computer Software Industry manager brother's attention, his response is that it must be Chrome based. Implying it is not as good as I imagine in preventing data collecting & Etc., because it is based through Chrome. I just trusted DuckDuckGo, being a long time user of their services, is not just working through Chrome & allowing data collection & Etc., that DuckDuckGo has made it's services to be against.

I do not disagree, I hate it & I know why I would not recommend Chrome, but I am wondering why not recommended by forum creator? Firefox focus scored the highest, but lacks basic functionality tools like tabs or enabling your Mozilla account. It also has google s the default search engine, but that can be changed.

I just did this because I was curious and decided it was worth neglecting my normal adult responsibilities for.

Mozilla is making it clear that they do not care about users any more.

Firefox is full of ads, with ads being in the homepage shortcuts, the news feed and the omnibox dropdown, as well as various ads for Mozilla services throughout the UI. Their ad network is also marketed to companies as allowing them to reach adblocker users.

Mozilla’s 210M+ global users are typically hard to reach. They're usually hidden behind ad blockers, nearly half avoid dominant social media, and most say no to default platforms. They’re selective, tech savvy, and paying attention. From: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/advertising/

Firefox is also full of tracking, with their mobile app sending data to the tracking company Adjust, and it having options for "personalised extension recommendations" and "Install and run studies". The latter allows them to install what they want into your browser without your consent out of the box.

Their tracking protection also mostly works only in private / incognito mode by default, with tracking scripts being allowed to run in standard windows with just isolated cookies protecting you, which is not a decision that a company who actually cares about privacy would make.

Mozilla is also partnering with Perplexity, an AI search engine who wants to collect as much data as possible even outside of their app to sell "hyper personalized" ads, which is exactly who you shouldn't work with if you claim to care about privacy. I recommend switching to Librewolf as it takes Firefox and removes this bullshit. Some other alternatives like Brave are just as bad.
