My family (Americans from Chicago) will be moving to Adelaide next year because my wife accepted a university job over there (waiting on visa process for permanent residency).

What advice or general knowledge about Adelaide would you love for us to know?

Anything amazing we should be aware of, see, do, etc? I love D&D, so I’m hoping to find a group to play with eventually (I also love to DM).

South Australia has confirmed its first detection of H5 bird flu.

To help keep communities informed, the South Australian Government is hosting a community forum in Goolwa on Monday 6 July.

This forum will provide updates on the current preparedness measures in place, as well as the animal, human and environmental health considerations.

You’ll hear from government leaders and experts including the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development the Hon Clare Scriven MLC, Minister for Climate, Environment and Water and Minister for Tourism, the Hon Emily Bourke MLC, and representatives from the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia, Department for Environment and Water and SA Health.

The forum will feature expert presentations on bird flu, public health advice and safety, and include an expert panel Q&A.

There will be opportunities for attendees to share insights and ask questions.

Forums are free and open to the public.

Registration is essential due to venue capacity.

The most commonly sighted whales in SA are Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales, which grace the coastline each year from May to October.

Toothed whales such as Sperm Whales, Pilot Whales and killer whales are around, but are usually found further offshore. The world’s largest animal, the Blue Whale, feeds offshore in the upwelling zones off Kangaroo Island and the Bonney Coast.

Internal SA government emails show public servants were told to remove the words "harmful", "outbreak" and "disaster" from communications about the marine algal bloom off the state's coastline.

One Department for Environment and Water worker described the advice to remove the word "harmful" as bizarre.

The documents were released to the state opposition under Freedom of Information laws.

If they continue this way, our state governments will have to open depts for Inane Communications.

It'll be more expensive driving there but at least you can enjoy the parks free of charge.

One Nation’s claim to the seat of Narungga has hit a snag weeks after the South Australian election.

Uncounted ballot papers were discovered on Thursday, forcing a recount in the Yorke Peninsula seat, which One Nation’s Chantelle Thomas won by just 58 votes.

More than 80 unopened papers have turned up, the state electoral commission has confirmed, offering a sliver of hope to the defeated Liberal candidate, Tania Stock.

The commission had already done a recount on the knife-edge seat.

To help make our parks more welcoming and accessible, a series of social scripts has been developed for several popular parks and experiences across the state. There is also a new communication board at Belair National Park.

These resources support Autistic people and their families to feel more confident and prepared when visiting our parks.
