No war in modern history has shut off a supply of energy to this degree. China is literally currently holding up the world economy and is the only reason the world is not spiralling into chaos right now. They cut their purchases of oil by 40% to assist other east Asian countries almost entirely dependent on oil from west Asia. That cannot last forever. Even with China moving full speed ahead into renewables.

Oil is a global commodity. The US and it's people will be just as heavily impacted as any other nation unless our government literally bans oil exports. Which this admin will not do.

The world and Americans especially are very much in denial of how bad this is going to get.

This bubble is quite different in my opinion than something like 2008. I believe it represents the concentration of wealth under fascism. It may "pop" but the resulting fallout will most likely be the conversion of America to a war economy. Which will sustain the hunger of capital further. And we might even get that conversion before the bubble pops.

These AI data centers aren't being built so they can create chat bots that sell you shit. They're being created for mass surveillance computational power and AI warfare.

I may be wrong. But one thing I do know is true is that when the bubble "pops" it's not going to get better for the working class. It's not going to result in some uprising against fascism. It's going to be a massive fuel for xenophobia and white supremacy like we've never seen before.

So, all I can do in the mean time is try to reach more people and message through work in DSA. In hopes that we have enough resistance to it to be meaningful.

The bubble popping isn't gonna mean you can finally afford a house. It'll mean that your grocery store runs dry and people die not being able to get healthcare.

With enough people, it takes about 2-3 days of an empty stomach.

I think our biggest difference in opinion is that you seem to think Trump brought fascism to America. Would that be fair to say?

I can understand that belief. But, I don't blame Trump solely for the rise in fascism. He didn't bring it. We are talking about a country that had an apartheid state of white supremacy when many of the representatives in office today were already grown adults.

White supremacy is a fundamental part of the American political system. If you always analyze your politicals based on an single election between two presidential candidates then what you are saying makes sense in a vacuum.

But, that is not how we got Trump. We didn't get Trump just because he won the election in 2016. If Trump died from a heart attack in 2013 we very much would have gotten the same dominant Republican party. The Republican party and it's tea party was ripe for the conditions of a politician like Trump. Roe V. Wade would have still been overturned. ICE would have still been expanded.

The Democratic party has been running on "lesser evil" campaigns since they lost to Reagan and abandoned the working class party of FDR.

Trump is leading fascism in America. He didn't create it though.

The amount of Bible verses with Jesus absolutely condemning the rich and the wealthy is overwhelming. And it's not like "oh that's open to interpretation". He's very clear in saying that rich people won't go to heaven. He's very clear in what to do with your money (help the poor and sinners).

His entire message is about "living as he lived". It's amazing how much Christians in America have been able to completely remove all of those aspects by just saying "well, Jesus did that so we don't have to. He died living a selfless life. All we have to do is 'believe the story'".

It has to be the laziest, most American interpretation of a religion ever. It's just fucking embarrassing to me though. Like, Im not Christian, but even I am embarrassed by most American Christians.

There are exceptions. But, most Americans use their Christianity as a shield for being shit people. Their religion isn't even Christianity, it's capitalism, and worship of wealth. The Christians that go to church every week are much more interested in hearing their pastor talk about how Trump is enacting gods plan. They know talking points for why Trump's not a pedophile, why Musk is a genius, or why trans kids in sports are destroying the economy. They couldn't tell you what Jesus said about where Christians should "store their riches". They'd probably say "a bank or a safe".

I'd argue we're already in a depression. The "economy" is being held together by debt, buy now pay later, and fear of homelessness.

We likely won't get some major event that causes some mass spontaneous strike like that.

The depression will happen slowly and controlled. Material conditions will decline. More people will die from lack of healthcare. More people will live out of their cars or with family.

A lot of your coworkers are likely already having this experience. Even if you aren't aware of it.

The stocks will continue to go up. Since stock prices at this point are just a reflection of the capitalist ability to exploit labor. The exploitation of labor in the "first world" is being increased slowly to that of the third world. The "economy" is largely separated from the conditions of the working class in America.

Since this comment is about the edge cases I'll add my own here as an example. It's not about "AI" in how most people think of it.

One example of "AI" that is more efficient and more accurate than traditional algorithms is in OCR (Optical character recognition). Traditional algorithms rely on templates and are very dependent on configuration. OCR is basically when you take a picture of some text on a sign or a page. The conversion of those pixels of text in the real world into text that you can copy and paste on your phone. Basic shit we've had long before "AI". Modern machine learning has improved this drastically. The same field that brought us "AI".

The "AI" in this case is really an evolution of machine learning in applications of computer vision . When we decided to call that "AI" was when the capitalist decided it was good marketing.

I worked on machine learning in college a decade ago. It is an area of computer science that has a lot of potential to make computer systems more efficient and more accurate when interacting with the real world and applied to computer vision models.

All of this shit has been thrown out of the window for chat bots that can be marketed and sold as a consumer commodity and experience.

I say all this, because "AI" is not really anything bad in its foundational principles in computer science. The insanity of where we are today is entirely because of the ownership of the means of production.

I tried to find the comparison of OCR algorithms I read in the past. The "application specific AI" models use less computational power and are more accurate than previous template models. This was a year ago I think. But, because of how awful the search is now (throw AI into something that doesn't improve from it) I can't find it.

DeepSeek-OCR and some other algorithms were compared.

Anyway, the point of this is that there are cool improvements in computer science that use machine learning. As someone in CS I fucking hate the bloat on this industry that has made a generation of society hate computers and tech. Capitalism is a fucking plague.

They don't care. They released victims names and protected pedophiles. They'd care if the population actually did something besides just pointing at the problem. But we didn't.

The war in Iran, the genocide in Gaza, the protection of pedophiles. None of these are distractions from one another. We bombed a school filled of children.

They aren't using anything to get us to "stop talking". They are doing more crimes because all we are doing is "just talking" about shit.

Agreed. The liberals politicians are very much willing to serve the interest of fascist at this point. I would say that their voting base is still stuck in the same mindset that they have been conditioned into believing though. "Just one more injunction that'll do it! We told them STOP IT!"

We are at a turning point though. The liberal voting base is electing socialist (in name at least). The liberal politicians will side with the fascist to stop it from gaining momentum. And, well, that will grow class consciousness within our society when it is inevitably obvious to even the dumbest liberals.

The worse thing that could happen. Is the DSA candidates are captured by political system itself and allowed to remain within it but never gain enough power. This is unfortunately the likely outcome.

My goal in DSA is gain enough momentum that the fascist and liberals are forced to show their faces. The liberals must be scratched to show they bleed as fascist. But I don't have delusions of a reform. It's why we cannot compromise with liberals. Their is no benefit to being captured by them.

I don't believe AOC will be a ground breaking president that would fundamentally change the flaws and move us towards socialism. But, I also don't think the liberals and fascist would even allow her to be elected. Which is exactly why I will be pushing for her come 2028. Her campaign is useful for propaganda that can grow class consciousness. And the more overwhelmingly we grow that and advertise it through the political process. The more people we'll have angry when the fascist and liberals work together and do not give up their power.

That's the best I can hope for at this point. And at that point, decades will happen in weeks. One way or another.
