See this kinda thing is exactly why I'm still here. Some guy tried to use his software's popularity to manipulate and censor Lemmy, and it had the exact opposite effect in the end. His software got immediately forked, most instances(that I know of) stopped using/supporting it and the whole thing is getting memed to death so now the entire usernase knows about it and can specifically avoid this guy and all the software he maintains.
When this kind of thing happens on a platform like reddit or some other closed system, we can often suspect and sometimes experimentally prove that some kind of censorship or manipulation is happening, but it is way more difficult to detect and there's little the users can do about it.
Not here.
Here the users have the power, the knowledge, and the motivation to not only find problems like this, but to take collective action against them. You all have just proved it, once again.
