Another thing not spoken is that this was an opt-out feature disguised as an opt-in with no alt-text describing it. “Enable Toxic Mode.” So people obviously won’t give it much mind if something wasn’t working, since it’s an opt-in feature… right?

Admiral Seaman is mad that we didn’t immediately notice his deceptive option.

Dating apps fucking suck, for many reasons. One company owns most, probably all in the future. Aims for a lifetime spent on the app through dark patterns and casino techniques. It’s a tech nightmare: requires a face scan sent to the app and also every surveillance company interested in buying them. Builds a profile on you silently, using identifiers from your in-app usage. Even without these, even if it were all FOSS, there’s an heavily skewed gender ratio.

run tlp recalibrate? Rolling back firmware probably doesn’t help because it might not be reverting the EC firmware, which is used with the battery

btw battery information is in /sys/class/power_supply/BAT* if you want to check the raw values

It might also help if you report the BIOS and EC versions you see in the BIOS setup.

content warning: rambling, pointless content below

I am one of those people that gets very annoyed with moderate buzzing generated by piezoelectric elements coil whine and tends to just ignore it if I can. My win10 ltsc desktop with an rx6700xt was buzzing like a cicada bug and it was SO annoying, but I figured it was an issue with the hardware and moved on. (It's really loud, and is triggered by mouse movements and the invisible windows scheduler. Something to do with interrupts). Well I booted into my forgotten linux distro that I use for testing and it's gone now. I use this computer exclusively for fitgirl repacks and steam games but now I am seriously considering putting linux on my main drive since I don't have to listen to that fucking sound.

Adding this to the list of things windows sucks at xD

I haven’t had an online or in-person friend in maybe 2 years. I had a friend maybe a few years ago that I drifted away from due to us losing interest. It’s really wearing on me. The only person outside my family that I speak to often is an old bud, but that’s limited to sharing memes and not much else. I’m in a place where I want to branch out to others but… they may reject me, lose interest in me, not treat my feelings with respect, or confront and dominate me. That fear entirely spoils any motivation I have to talk to new people. It just feels like any interaction I might have will place me in a worse state than I already am, which is kind of like a neutral zone. I always feel funny because it’s like I’m dying of thirst but am scared of water.
