I've been thinking about buying a hot plate for a while now, this has pushed me to get one. And wow, less than $20 is pretty awesome for 1000W. I rent, and never want to turn my gas stove on again.

    I was actually thinking about this recently. It's now making a lot of sense to just cover the mega carriers in solar panels like this. Could probably even just carry a massive battery and be completely emissions free. Maybe a tiny nuclear reactor as an emergency backup?

    Which I firmly agree with. I think if AI is used responsibly it can be beneficial for certain tasks. More education around better AI usage and practices is more important now than ever before.

    It's weird that I see aluminum can coke and plastic bottle coke, similar volume, basically the same price. Where one container is much more valuable and 100% recyclable, the other is harming the planet and is almost never recycled.

    Yea that's completely fair to be frustrated. The reality of the problem is deeper than that, because even if you properly separate your materials chances are it's all put into one truck anyway. What we also need are hubs for people to drop of their recycling where it can be separated an aggregated in bulk. I just learned about https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sure_We_Can which is something I think Chicago could do as well. We need the government to implement a bottle bill, but the complexity of getting legislators to make a decision to pass that is something much more difficult and long term.

    It's a bit of a negative feedback loop, because if the system that picks up your materials doesn't properly route it to recycling hubs, then you are less inclined to care. And honestly, that's completely fair, why waste the time separating your materials when whoever picks up puts it all back into one container?
