Unsurprising given they failed to ship it sooner. It's back to the drawing board for them to pre-train a new model to compete with the much stiffer competition.

    GFiber and Astound to merge with Alphabet selling majority stake to Stonepeak.

    Google Fiber, now officially called GFiber, is being sold to private equity firm Stonepeak and will be combined with cable-and-fiber firm Astound Broadband to create a larger Internet service provider.

    Google owner Alphabet announced Wednesday that it will keep only a minority stake in the fiber ISP that launched with grand ambitions in 2012 but scaled back its expansion plans in 2016. Alphabet and Astound owner Stonepeak announced “an agreement to combine GFiber with Astound Broadband, creating a leading independent fiber provider,” with the merged company to be “majority owned by Stonepeak, an investment firm specializing in infrastructure and real assets.”

    Microsoft has an important update for 365 Enterprise users. The company has shared when it will automatically switch them from Classic to New Outlook for Windows.

    Back in December of 2024, Microsoft had shared a timeline for when Microsoft 365 Enterprise users would be switched over to New Outlook for Windows from the classic app. At the time, the company had said that the big switch would happen in April 2026, which means it was set to happen around one month from now.

    So if you were preparing to make the jump, you can rest easy, as Microsoft has given more time. The company, last month, shared an update to this timeline and it has said that the opt-out phase for New Outlook for Windows has been pushed back to March of 2027, so admins and users alike will get a whole new year for making the switch.

    Thanks for the heads up! End of an era. I've been dabbling in Lawnchair (the new update is an improvement but some bugs remain) and Niagara (great but lacks support for a widget page).

    I tried the Pixel 9 Pro Fold out for a couple weeks. Overall great concept but I'd like to have seen the inclusion of a better SoC and cameras. Reliability also seems to be a weak point according to the owner's groups. They really need to work on that if folks are going to be expected to pay so much for a new device (or for a used one in the case of the original Fold mentioned in this article).

    Nothing has launched a first look at its Nothing OS 3.0 update, delivering revamped designs and features, a new Gallery app, and more, with a launch in beta next month.

    Nothing OS 3.0 is the software the company "always wanted" to build, as explained in a new video on the company's YouTube channel. The update, almost surely based on Android 15, is set to bring several new changes including redesigns throughout the Android skin as well as a long-awaited first-party "Nothing Gallery" app.

    New features in Nothing OS 3.0 include:

    • Nothing Gallery: A new photo app with Nothing's design language and faster access from the camera app
    • Lock Screen: More customization for clocks and widgets, including the ability to disable a full-size clock to make more room for widgets.
    • Quick Settings: Full customization of icons including their size, similar to homescreen widgets. Auto-brightness toggle in the brightness slider.
    • Smart App Drawer: AI will be used to surface apps you may want to use -- in a UI that looks just like iOS' App Library -- or you can manually pin apps to the top of the traditional Android app drawer.
    • New Widgets: Countdown widget for dates, "Shared Widgets" that sync content and sticker reactions between users
    • UI: Updated typography, new "Dot Engine" updates system animations with dynamic dots (found when charging, fingerprint sensor, etc)
