What people say they want and what they actually want are not always the same thing, and often they don't even realize it themselves.

Never a dull day in the wang biz
I was staying at hostel in Switzerland. I clogged the toilet. I went to the front desk for help. The desk person followed me to the bathroom, took a look, said "It's too big," chuckled, and then just went back to the desk. I ended up doodie knifing it with a wire hanger.
This person is reveling in perceived victimhood. They seem genuinely energized by the fantasies of persecution they imagine themselves being subject to. Makes you wonder what is missing in their life that they seek that out.
It's not about right vs left. It's about totalitarianism vs pluralism.
