But I'd say most don't anymore, as there has been a push towards Microsoft Authenticators push-method for a while (where the website/app shows a number and you have to type it in to the authenticator), as it is a slightly safer method than OTP, and can be used passwordless.

It also made people ready for passkeys, as the authenticator supports easy activation off passkey on accounts that are saved with push-method (you pretty much just click a button in the app), and authenticator is easy to set up on the admin side if you require device bound and attestation for passkey.

And while a hardware passkeys can be stole and used, those who steal them will still need the pin to use them, and the two major hardware passkeys options now (Yubico and Token2) both have some pin brute force protection in their firmware to slow someone down long enough for an account to be secured another way.

As for passkeys on phones, they require the pin or biometric used to unlock the phones to be used.

But just wanted to point out in regards to directory, it isn't only because business owners do the work gmaps beat OSM for now.

It is because Google handles some info better, either just by national flags or by scraping info from websites.

That is why OSM shows all shops around me as open right now, while gmaps doesn't since it is a public holiday where all shops are closed.

When OSM get that kind of info correct, without having to manually edit opening I do for every shop, it will be a proper contender in the directory category.
