My grandma usually puts her late tomato harvest in a brown bag which she stores in a warm place so the tomatoes ripen with time (that usually takes around 2 weeks)

Hi there, I'm the one who created the origami community on feddit.de :) After the instance shut down, I reopened another community on feddit.org (https://feddit.org/c/origami), but afterwards I didn't have much time to fold something and so I unfortunately neglected the community (that's why there are only a few post). If you want to fold something else, however, feel free to post something over there! Maybe I'll also fold something small to get the ball rolling again soon, who knows :)

Hey, that's the origami community I created a while ago (the second one after feddit.de shut down), thanks for the shout-out!

To be honest, I kind of neglected the community due to a lack of time and motivation, but maybe I'll try folding something again to post over there, so thank you for the reminder!

The German name for "bat" is "Fledermaus", a compound word consisting of "Fleder" (a cognate of "flattern" = "to flap") and "Maus" = "mouse", so we Germans basically call a bat a flappy mouse :D

    Hey all,

I recently learned that Lemmy allows setting the language of a post before posting it (for example, if the language of a post is set to German, only people who choose to view German posts can see it).

When using Lemmy in a browser, you can simply use a drop-down menu to define the language of the post to be created, but even as I write this very post in Boost, there is no option or toggle for me to choose the language of this post in Boost. Did I miss something or has this not been implemented in Boost yet? Thanks in advance!

    Hey all!

Today I finally had time and an occasion to fold something - it's a present for a friend whose absolute favourite animals are lions. I used the following instruction video from Madiyar Amerkeshev's YouTube channel (I couldn't find any diagrams, though):

    https://youtu.be/3ZSjkIlZyLw

The size of the paper I used (20x20 cm) resulted in a lion which is roughly 14 cm long and 6 cm high. It took me a few tries to get the right proportions especially of the chin and face - what you see here is my third attempt. I also took some liberties in shaping the lions back and repositioning one of the front leg to give the lion a more dynamic pose than shown in the video (the thumbnail shows another way to pose the front leg).

Other videos on this channel look promising as well, so the chances of me folding something else from Madiyar Amerkeshev in the future are quite high :)

Also please ignore the wrinkly fabric of my sofa lol
