I grew up accepting the propaganda wholesale, then at some point when I was around 16, my critical thinking skills suddenly switched on all at once and I was like “Wait a second, this is all some bullshit!” This didn’t seem to be due to any external influence, I think my brain just rebooted.

Not really a horror story, but I contacted Amazon yesterday because my package didn’t arrive, and you can only go through AI. I told it the package was marked delivered, but I was standing in the mailroom and it was not. Chatbot says “OK, we’ll send you a new one! Did that help?” And I’m like “Yeah! That was easy.”

Immediately get an email with instructions on returning the damaged package which doesn’t exist, with a note that I will be charged a second time if I don’t send it.

Contact support again like “What the hell?” Chatbot immediately says “OK, here’s a refund, bye!” So now I have a refund and the package, even though I didn’t ask for that.

Moral is stop using Amazon, I guess. I’d rather buy a second one than talk to AI for any length of time.

its not funny anymore, its just too real

Office Space was my favorite movie for a decade, but I can’t watch it any more because it’s too relatable. I imagine Idiocracy might have a similar effect.

WD-40 is designed to break up rust and grime and allow something to move again. Because of this, most of it evaporates quickly and the small amount of lubricant that remains wears out quickly. The example I’ve heard is that you would have to reapply it to a bike chain every 10-20 miles. It also removes actual lubricants like lithium grease and graphite.

WD-40 is a terrible lubricant that only works short-term.
