I used to use gnome, but I moved to XFCE when switching to Artix last year. I must say I think I like it better. I still get to use a convenient desktop that looks GNOME-ish, uses GTK, has a bunch of theme options, and is a lot more lightweight than GNOME without requiring systemd. It seems like the best of possible worlds at present, although I've wanted to try out a tiling window manager like dwm for fun. I'm not sure I'd be able to get used to/comfortable with using one as a daily driver though.

It's already the case that banks don't allow their apps to be used on rooted phones. I can imagine a similar possibility for desktop computers. A dreadful possibility, but a possibility nonetheless.

Practically speaking, people already have cell phones that are impossible to own, because in many cases, users are not allowed to unlock the bootloaders of their phones.

Can you say why you wouldn't be caught dead using GNOME?
