I quit doing all surveys. Why work for free? It just felt pointless, and I used to fill out a lot of these since I thought it made my voice heard. They also started to feel more sterile and robotic and less about actually getting actionable feedback. Aggregate data tends to suck, and it’s all they want now.

Mokas are a finicky beast. I’ve had it make some of the worst and some of the tastiest cups I’ve had. Is it acidic or bitter? It’s easy to burn it, but that doesn’t sound like the problem. I’m guessing it’s too fine. Every bag I got had to be individually dialed on, but in general I found a grind much more similar to drip/ pour over worked best. I’d try that. Fill your filter up to where there’s a good mound and lightly tap down with a spoon.

Also, have your changed your filter and gasket that go into the top portion? Those can get old grinds stuck in it easy that can taste off.

What a strange take. I get that being interrupted with a phone does cause a context switch, but so would coming in and ordering. Or picking up pizzas to deliver. And also, for me I just think of answering the phone as part of the job at a pizza joint. So many memories of sitting in lobbies waiting hearing the constant “hello papa johns” drone on. I do concede I’m old though.

This looks great! I have fond memories of a bbq restaurant that had buttermilk pie as one of their desserts. It was always delicious by itself, but they also had a version cut up, placed in a glass with ice cream, chopped nuts and some caramel on top. Delicious!
