So I rephrase,
it means that if you subscribe to another web service/website ( F*cebook, mastodon ...) whatever and you receive an email to confirm your registration with that service, the email provider will block, freeze, or ban you. \

I hope it's more clear now

    Hi,

I wanted to contact the owner/administrator of a website. Unfortunately, they didn't provide any means of contact ( email, phone number, online form, simpleX whatsoever).

So the only alternative that I had thought was to create a Mastodon account and publish an open communication with them tagged. ( who know with a bit of luck. )

Unfortunately, to create a Mastodon account, you have to provide an email 📧 address 😞 The problem with email address is that it can be correlated to track you down and more.. there are so many examples online, I will not cover this here.

So the workaround is to create a new email address dedicated just for that usage or service. But it's becoming merely impossible to create a free email account somewhere without giving up your identity. (phone number, ISP[^1] email address, paying online with Fiat[^2] , Cloudflare or whatever trick )

I've seen already few posts about this subject on lemmy and other platforms

    some quote from those links

Like it or not, email is a critical part of our digital lives. It’s how we sign up for accounts, get notifications, and communicate with a wide range of entities online. Critics of email rightfully point out that email suffers from a significant number of flaws that make it less than ideal, but that doesn’t change the current reality. In light of that reality, I believe that an encrypted email provider is a must-have for everyone in today’s age of rampant data breaches, insider threats, warrantless police access, and targeted advertising.

All the providers listed around the WWW are wrong ! Either they ask to identify yourself, or if you use Tor, you are blocked, or you cannot use it to register to any service online (third party).

    See the table below \

Do not hesitate to propose any other, or maybe you have another solution ? Like self hosting email service ? I already dig up a little bit, but I found this and it looks scary. Thank you GAFAM...

So maybe it doesn't look like much? But actually, it's blocking me more and more. I cannot move/interact on internet or in real life ! because I get often "You have to register online" and that registration come with mandatory email..

Where I live, you better stay anonymous. Because what you say can definitely strike back to you. There is no freedom of speech. Please help to make internet free again.

Because we need it in our daily life and social interactions...

    Thanks

    Hi everyone,

GenesisI have an unused Xiaomi redmi note 6 pro that was standing in a drawer and I wanted to re-use it.

This phone was already running with a custom ROM lineageOS but they do not support it any longer and they've also deleted all the ROM files relative to it 🤯 so no way to download again those ROM !

So I tried few other stuff and I landed in bricking my phone. Too bad as it was still in a great shape and condition. What a waste/pollution !!

I'am myself an IT guy, but the unnecessary complexity of the Android phone and what the brands does.. etc. make too many steps and I cannot spend ~two weeks to unbrick it.

And additionally to that, when I see what Google planned for us https://keepandroidopen.org/ oh my God. 🤮

    So I am looking for a phone[^Floss]:

    • around 100-150€/$
    • screen ~6.50'
    • a mini jack 🎧
    • Easy to install/Flash another ROM ! ( let's dream, maybe the vendor itself guide/help in order to do so )
    • Bootloader not locked !?
    • Easy to be the root [^root]
    • Not need to be the newer model

    [^Floss]: Floss
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_and_open-source_software

[^root]: And by the way, why we should struggle and trick so much just to gain root access? Do are we not the owner of our phones? Why not a simple option that asks to be root? And the user will take its own responsibility for it !?

Damn ! it's become harder and harder on the WWW to exchange with our peer !

I currently have a question about the ffmpg program and obviously I went on their official website to see which support community they host.

But in my point of view, they host only tools that are not practical to handles questions and follow-up on it.

    They have a

    1. mailing list but I don't like that because first I have to give my mail and secondly that mail address will be quickly flooded with all the other posts of everyone else
      .
    2. a IRC but this is a linear chat option and so you cannot track properly an answer to a topic, to a given topic.
      .
    3. a forum and that's my favorite tool to ask and answer questions but obviously like the majority of people now they do not own this forum !

They rely on stack exchange and as as you might know stack exchange is a censorship kingdom, proof, I tried to create an account on stack exchange ( super user ) but obviously as as soon as I enter my e-mail boom I'm being blocked/censored

    E-mailHi,

Sorry to write you directly on your nominative email that is listed on https://ffmpeg.org/**** It seems the website ffmpeg.org lack of an email address contact :/

I have a question about FFMPG program, but I do not desire to subscribe to a mailing list because while doing so, my mailbox will be flooded. IRC is not the best either because it's a linear chat and not by topic based. at least (and my favorite) you propose a forum but it's hosted by superuser.com and unfortunately this is the kingdom of censorship !

I tried to register with my regular email address and bam ! I'm instantly forbidden to register on their platform

    What the heck !!??

I don't know if you know lemmy but it might be good to have a look at it. it's easy, decentralized ! and less censored (but maybe you have tights with superuser.com ? )I don't know... meanwhile I'm blocked (and maybe others)

    Regards,

    Rick.

to the FFMPEG team, but at this day, I didn't get an answer.

So to not be stuck with that problem, I look around the World Wide Web and I found an older forum https://forum.doom9.org/ that I was using ~10 years ago ! for a few questions and help other peers.

Today I tried to create a new account. and obviously boom again I'm censored directly !

    in conclusion

here my two cents it if you offer yours visitors a forum:
either own it or at least do not use a fully automatic banning system ! because it's always produce false positive and this is become more and more frustrating for users..

Hopefully there is lemmy, and the people that own/run instances seem to be more human / open toward their peer, and do not embraces censorship.
