Lol the revolutionary war was about economic independence for the land owning minority within the colonies. They forced the lower class to fight the war for them and then charged them for the service. They ended up in debters prison after the war. That's what the Shays' Rebellion was all about! How on earth could anyone interpret it any other way, especially when you consider the ultimate result of that war, which was the total and completely colonization from east to west and an ethnic genocide of indigenous peoples.

The ruling class was not interested in democracy for the masses, it was not anti colonial or anti imperial, it only sought democracy for a narrow band of people, specifically the land owning anglos and continued their colonial agenda to expand their wealth and power:
