Pliers+Philips is a great combination. I was using a Trailblazer (Tinker Deluxe + Metal Saw/Chisel) and recently switched to a Mechanic (Tinker Deluxe - scissors/hook)

As someone who started after 21700 became popular, I’ve never felt the need to buy a multi-cell flashlight thanks to single-cell existing for most use-cases and not wanting to have to think about ensuring all cells have the same charge or keeping them paired together. So I like this development since it means there can be more simple 1-cell lights.
But realistically I won’t be carrying a 4680 light around regularly (even Convoy m21b is a bit too large).
That makes sense that it’s easier to flash directly since there are so many different parts and variations to the actual destination hardware.
I read that one of Toykeeper’s original design decisions was to separate out the generic UI code from the specific code that interfaces with the hardware (being vague due to lack of knowledge). Maybe it would be possible to incorporate some testing code that only evaluates the user inputs compared to expected outputs within the Anduril layer? Such as a single state transition like “when multi-channel is enabled and user selects 4H, selected output level is equal to turbo”. Such a test could be indicate unexpected behavior when UI code is being customized.
Just adding to the imaginary backlog here!

You’re in luck, this is one of OP’s own requirements for all the lights on the “arbitrary list”:
A user interface where a single click turns the light on in a reasonable mode, and another single click turns it off.

I did make up 461000 but there are a few variations coming out with 46mm diameter, based on the popular format you mentioned but different lengths. And the poster of this BLF thread mentioned Lumintop GT110 which uses a 46110! (110mm not 11mm).
