It sounds like you have been deeply hurt and I am sorry that happened. I am not the guy who did that to you or someone you care about.

There are good men out there who would die to protect their children from other harms, are not predators and move society forward with a healthy contribution. I am one of those, not the other kind.

In terms of building a better world, that sounds amazing. Until that job is done, it definitely falls to me at a minimum to keep my family safe, because for now the world still has real dangers and predators that can hurt them.

But I am different to a woman, specifically if there's a violent threat or harm to the family.

I will step in first to handle it, I'm more suited to it. I won't be able to do it the other way around where I take the kids and run while the wife deals with whatever the threat is.

Or a simpler example, if I get attacked, I do not want the wife to step in. However, if she is attacked, I will step in.

Unless we're limiting the discussion to exclude those situations?

Going to try out some kayaking for the first time, should be interesting.

Need to work out an optimal exercise schedule, I'm winging it currently and that's not great.

Why would there have to be a point? It's possible there is no architect and thus no point. It could all be random chaos colliding into this weird situation, and we're just particles floating along in the maelstrom.

To come the question of why should you care, well you can choose pleasures or pain in your time on this planet. Pain is the default if you make no choice.

Manipulative headline. It's not holding up anything as much as people are trying to make sure they can still feed their families in the face of the insatiable corporate hunger for cost cutting to yield ever more profits.

I spent some time in Switzerland, and there was a chocolate chateau in Interlaken which sold these individually wrapped chocolate cubes which broke up and melted in your mouth.

It's very good I live very far away from that place now.

People keep telling me that dating today is a war zone, facing all kinds of challenges.

Dating apps don't seem to be directly trying to help solve the problem as much as generate revenue. In fact, they are very directly motivated to not make great long term matches.

Some people seem think that just getting out there and hoping for the best is the answer. Maybe that's true, but it's still very random. I was wondering about a hypothetical alternative:

What if you could go to an agency of some kind get rated through a thorough evaluation process? Would that be helpful ? It's not perfect, and many things are hard to measure. But maybe it's a less random starting point and can escape the exclusively money driven approach of dating apps.
