the first amendment protects you from the government.
It states you can speak publicly, or publish, disparaging things about the government (as long as its truthful - read not liable or slander) without fear of prosecution from the government.
It does not state you can say or do whatever you want without repercussions - like desecrating the flag.
That is entitlement. its a very different thing.

I think it is immoral. The point of separation is to allow time to repair the relationship. Having extra relations during the time meant to focus on repairing the main relationship is cheating. Full stop.

My concern with this approach would be the unhinged retaliatory response from the world's. Richest dictator. I mean I'm just a pothead from the US so I imagine some military strategist has accounted for this... But it's kinda hard to imagine how crazy is gonna act
