The philosophy of Antinatalism makes a lot of logical sense to me. I find it difficult to argue against without appealing to nature, traditions, emotions, etc.

People really, really, really hate AN, though. It's not something I enjoy engaging about. I don't really care if other people subscribe to it or not. I'm not an AN evangelist.

Unfortunately, AN attracts a lot of weirdos, childfree types, and suicidal people. There are some brilliant folks who subscribe to it, too. But the signal to noise ratio is awful.

Yeah, "retroactive jealousy" is a very dumb trope that should seldom if ever be used in a story, IMO. Tropes aren't inherently bad, most stories are full of them. But some of them are weak sauce, and this is one of them. I tried to find an entry for it on tvropes.org and couldn't find one, which is surprising. It's a fairly common trope, and they have a lot of jealousy-themed tropes in their database. Could be a skill issue on my part and I just didn't find it.

Whoever came up with this has probably always used 'optics first, actual results last' in their shitty career so far.

Probably not. I was being sarcastic, but it seems like their dumb in-jokes tend to continue long after a normal expiration period. It's also funny to me that most of the IRL people I know still talking about reddit are middle aged or older. Not sure what their real demographics are, and probably wouldn't believe their self reported ones. They need the shareholders to believe the bots are engagement KPIs.
