Well I just thought it was neat I could screen record but whatevs, screenshots will probably get it done with a bit of explanation.

Image 1: File manager open, preparing to mount devices.

Image 2: Devices mounted, preparing to open filesystem on first device.

Image 3: Attempted to open filesystem on first device, met with access denied.

Image 4: Bypassed access denied, appended storage/emulated/0 to filesystem mount point(? i think im saying that right), filesystem now accessible.

Use Your Imagination 1: Opened filesystem on device 2, bypassed access denied, appended system/emulated/0 again, able to access filesystem.

Use Your Imagination 2: Attempted to open filesystem on device 1 again, access denied again, appended system/emulated/0 again, able to access file system again.

Ad Nauseum every time I want to access the filesystem on these devices remotely. It might actually be faster to just email myself the files. Probably less frustrating, too.

Does that explain it? You can also see how it would be easy to mix up which device I'm browsing because they are both called some random jumbled numbers with similar android file names instead of "phone" and "tablet" or something human like that

Apparently I have a native ability to record videos of my screen on linux, which is very neat and I'm going to take advantage of it now.

I had originally typed up a couple paragraphs explaining, but I don't think it's as clear as this video. The 3rd IP/mount point being selected and resulting in a loading mouse icon is an example of unexplained disconnect. Hope that explains your question. Frankly that stack exchange page confuses and scares me.

You can see how it would be annoying to type ctrl+l storage/emulated/0 every single time you want to transfer a file from device to device, especially when you can't tell the difference between devices at a glance.

Devices: Bazzite Laptop, GrapheneOS Pixel 9, Boox Tab X

I'm annoyed with the functionality of KDEConnect at present. I very much like the concept, but there is friction preventing what should be a convenience from reaching its potential. Right now, I can mount the filesystem of connected devices on my laptop, but every time I do so I have to bypass an access restricted sign and do Ctrl+L to append storage/emulated/0 to the IP address of the connected device to actually access the mounted filesystem. Further, if there is more than one device, the two filesystems are practically indistinguishable from one another: I just spent about 5 minutes digging through the pictures on my tablet before I realized I was browsing the wrong device

    1. Is there a way to automatically append storage/emulated/0 every time the device is mounted?

    2. Is there a way to rename the filesystems so that I can easily distinguish between my phone and tablet?

Some other problems less directly important to what I would like to incorporate into my workflow:

I occasionally experience strange, unexplained disconnections/refusals to connect with the kdeconnect protocol, despite being connected by wifi, bluetooth, direct usb tether, or any combination thereof. This problem is infrequent and intermittent, and the only consistent solution seems to be restarting the affected device (usually the pixel).

    1. Am I missing something about connecting devices; is there a log I can check for some kind of device error?

I'd appreciate some way to stream the screen from one device to another. Nothing major, but it would have been convenient a couple of times now, and it seems like an obvious addition to the capabilities.

    1. Is something like that in the works? If not, what is the reason it's not? What would allow me to do this?

Your body is made of matter, just like everything else. But the atoms you’re built from today won’t be the atoms you’re built from in a year.

My grandfather's axe is a wonderful axe. It's been in my family 3 generations now. It's had the head replaced once and the handle three times, and it's just as good today as it was in his day. Checkmate, reductionists.

Give me a simple cell from the early days of Earth’s history, and I could never predict that some 4 billion years later it would evolve into a giant rabbit that can punch you in the face. Kangaroos—like humans—are an unpredictable, emergent consequence of life’s evolution.

Appealing to the author's own lack of imagination is a bold stroke...

The fundamental laws that govern matter and energy cannot predict another fundamental property of life: It is the only system in the universe that uses information for its own purposes. Plants grow toward light, microbes swim toward rich food sources, animals hide from predators, humans send giant metal contraptions into outer space. Although one can, say, program a robot to search for a wall plug when its battery gets low, a living thing (a human programmer, for example) must hard-code that need into the machine. Life, by contrast, is both agential and autonomous. From microbes to crabs to people, all living things have their own itches to scratch.

And since no reductionist description of these things exists yet (that the author knows of), therefore physics must be rewritten.

    Very woo.

On this mander account, in the standard web client. The front page loads as expected. Clicking next generates the next page URL, but posts do not load in; grey boxes where post information should be and an endless wait. Refreshing and reloading does not fix. Changing from all to local/subscribed feed does not fix. Logging out does fix, but then I'm not logged in.

Edit: Bug persists across devices, phone, pc and boox tablet, and both windows and ubuntu. Suggests server/account-specific issue?

I had a similar (identical) problem for a while on a feddit.org account, but it has since resolved to normal expected behavior without any input on my part.

    It's annoying.

    Please advise.

I feel like you missed the "independent shops" part of the description entirely. And the "[amazon market is] fragmented but monopolized" part. And the "competitor to amazon" part. And, like, the entire gist of the post. And im wondering if you've used amazon recently, or perhaps have been living under a rock for a while to say you feel the payment system is the only centralized part of amazon.

DAYTON, OH—Every single person, historical figure, and anthropomorphic talking object inhabitting Brian Jensen’s dream Friday night was suddenly struck by the unusually strong smell of smoke, subconscious sources reported.

Jensen, a 32-year-old cable installation technician who had fallen asleep several hours earlier, was reportedly in the middle of a conversation with his former high school biology teacher, Mr. Campbell, at the time of the unexpected disturbance.

“Now Brian, I would love nothing more than to help you mend your relationship with your mother, but I’m afraid…wait, is that smoke?” said the dream version of Campbell, who then he set down his briefcase, took an eggplant out of his jacket pocket, and sniffed at the air suspiciously. “Something’s definitely burning around here.”

Over the next several minutes, Jensen reportedly wandered through the shifting dreamscape, meeting distant cousins, beloved family pets, and automotive pioneer Henry Ford, all of whom appeared visibly concerned with the increasing heat and acridity.

According to dreams sources, the sleeping 32-year-old soon found himself aboard an empty passenger train, where a coughing and gasping German customs officer asked him for his travel documents.

Several times, the man wondered aloud in his thick accent “where all this smoke was coming from,” and while stamping Jensen’s passport, he twice stopped to rub his stinging red eyes.

“Not since the war have I seen smoke like this,” said the German, who sources claimed then slowly melted away to reveal Jensen’s former Pizza Hut coworker Craig Weiss. “Dude, it’s so fucking hot in here. I’m sweating my balls off.”

“Jesus Christ, Brian,” the fast-food employee continued. “Did you let another pizza burn or something?”

This incident aboard the train was followed by a succession of other puzzling events, including the sudden appearance of a dozen exploding thermometers, the arrival of a cigarette-smoking bedside lamp, and what sounded like the muffled echoes of banging and screaming coming from behind a small wooden door.

It was also at this point that a frantic gas stove, running around in circles and crying desperately for someone to put it out, was first seen.

“I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe,” shouted folk hero Davy Crockett. “We need to get rid of some of this smoke.”

A motion to immediately open a window to let in some fresh air was approved by a majority of those voting in the dream, among them a group of injured boy scouts, sports commentator Marv Albert, Smokey the Bear, and a locked bedroom window. A doctor who had taken Jensen’s tonsils out when he was 12 opposed the decision, however, calling instead for immediate evacuation.

Although it’s not clear how Jensen wound up in the kitchen of his late uncle Gary’s home, dream sources revealed that a cheerleader from Jensen’s middle school approached him at that time. Dressed in a short pleated skirt, the cheerleader reportedly leaned in close, parted her perfect red lips, and then blasted the 32-year-old in the face with a blaring fire-truck siren.

“Brian, you’re burning up,” the slender, giggling teenage girl said. “You’re burning up!”

Jensen’s romantic efforts were further interrupted when an old woman carrying a tray of candles entered the kitchen and urged him to “please wake up” so he wouldn’t be late for work. Moments later, a flaming roof beam screamed at Jensen to get out of its way as it fell and crashed to the ground.

“What are you still doing here—-they’re all looking for you,” shouted the roof beam, flanked by several other beams all tumbling to the floor. “Nobody can find you!”

At press time, there was an intense smell of rising smoke and slow-roasting pork.
