That looks familiar to a game I played back in mid 2000's. The UI looks similar but I think it was white not red. Dark War, or Dark something: War.

It's not exactly old (it came out this year) but you could give the new remake of Fatal Frame 2 a try. You could play the originals but they are very similar controls to the old Resident Evil games. It has combat where you go into first person and have to photograph "shoot" the ghost/wraiths.

Have you seen Underspace? Its almost a spiritual successor to Freelancer. Take Freelancer and add Eldritch horrors and you have Underspace. IIt's still in Early Access but definitely scratches the itch.

We were always told < is less than. The symbol looks like an L for Less. If the L is facing the wrong way > it's greater than.
