Do you want support for Iran? Because this is how you get support for Iran.
Jokes aside it is a weird feeling to approve of something done by a regime I am otherwise so opposed to.
Just a reminder 2/3 of the internet runs on AWS
... Which you would think would be enough of a monopoly to break a company apart.
Yes, but they're not evenly distributed across regions. You could take out every non-US and non-EU AWS region, and most of the top-500 traffic AWS sites would still be up.
Just a reminder that aws has military contracts
AWS has at least two entire regions that are airgapped, exist within US military bases, are mostly airgapped, and require anyone working in or with them to have TS/SCI security clearances, to the point where AWS will facilitate (and award salary bumps for) employees getting those clearances.
In technology, we are constantly being beaten about resiliency. Two of everything. Two locations.
However, we never do two providers. There are services that overlay the control of different cloud providers to create what appears to be a single platform. Maybe those will become more popular if aws continues to be a target.
We almost always do two internet providers. And two different backup storage providers.
Managing infrastructure already sucks ass on AWS; i can't imagine using another abstraction layer on top that has to account for the "quirks" of that and other cloud providers
my last workplace used the top three cloud providers, though mostly because it helped with sales since customers on Azure wouldn't necessarily have to deal with AWS stuff (even if we really preferred to touch Azure)
it was a huge pain in a lot of ways, but manageable, and downright smart to not be at the mercy of just AWS or GCP
What kind of dumbass builds a data center in the middle east?
A company that has operations in the Middle East. Proximity matters quite a bit when networking at scale. Networking across Tier 1/2 carriers gets expensive quickly, and is hard to justify when you can put the datacenter closer to the customers.
Well the gulf countries was stable until the idiot and war criminal trump started this illegal war
