In Australia it gave us the Labor party rather than the Labour Party... Even though we use British spellings for everything else.

That led me down a rabbit hole. Not a deep one though.

Every effort to fix English just adds more exceptions. Meanwhile everything written beforehand, or elsewhere, still uses the old way, so you often need to learn both versions.
