Also literally history is like this, dude gets a scratch and dies of sepsis in two days. Another guy gets bitten by a venomous snake, struck by lightning, shot, survives a shipwreck, poisoned, gets through multiple wars and keeps on keeping on

    Just out of curiosity, if there was a genetic treatment to permanently cure your lactose intolerance without any side effects beyond that it would alter your DNA and be passed down to any kids you have after the treatment would you take it?

    Why not? Real life is messy with side effects and such, but if that wasn't a concern, hell yes.

    Irl yeah probably. I was kinda having another conversation and the other person was having a hard time with the idea that we may be (definitely are) entering a modern age of eugenics. It'll start with serious congenital genetic disorders then work its way to more trivial uses and likely Into designer babies.

    Reminds me of the story about Hugh Glass. At one point a bear disemboweled him. He apparently either killed or at least severely discouraged the bear using a hunting knife, pulled his guts back into his abdomen, made a poultice using moss and herbs, and eventually made his way back to town with a story and some pelts.

    If this sounds suspiciously like The Revenant, it's because that movie was based on the story of Hugh Glass. Beyond surviving a bear attack the stories surrounding him are fanciful at best
